Dear Community Member,

In an effort to provide an opportunity and an experience like no other, 58 members of the South Broward High School (SBHS) Wind Symphony Band will be selected to travel to New York City and perform on the stage at world famous Carnegie Hall in April of 2017. The South Broward High School Band Program, under the direction of Band Director Michael D. Scott, has grown in number, improved in skill, and achieved numerous awards and recognition since Mr. Scott arrived in 2013. Although the SBHS Wind Symphony Band has achieved a superior level of recognition for the hard work and talent of its members and its Band Director, the opportunity to travel to New York City and play at Carnegie Hall would be the ultimate achievement for all involved.

The administrative team at South Broward High School has been working hand in hand with the South Broward High School Band Patrons Association, Inc. and the members of the NYC/Carnegie Hall Trip Committee, to put this trip into motion. The total cost of the trip for our group is currently estimated at $107,300.00. Each parent is expected to pay for their child to participate ($1,850.00 per child); however, due to the diverse economic background of the students at our school, many of our parents will need assistance in doing so. For this reason, we are counting on the generosity of our outstanding community members to assist in making this opportunity a reality.

Please don’t let this opportunity pass these talented musicians by, consider making a monetary donation toward this event, as your gift will provide them with an opportunity they may never be given again.
